About the artwork
This hatch cover theme developed over the past five or six years and evolved from the Okahu Bay series. To enhance the sense of abstraction this work uses only flat coloured shapes with no changes of hue within any of the shapes, as was employed in earlier works for a sense of realism. I find this small change successful and feel a small insight into the abstract work of Mondrian.
