Exhibition - Coromandel and the Te Whanganui a Hei Marine Reserve
These paintings depict some of our spectacular coastline and the marine life which it supports. They are the images that come to mind when I think about my time on the water guiding kiwi’s and foreigners alike into the treasure that our Te Whanganui a Hei Marine Reserve.
About the artwork
When exploring the coastline around the Coromandel you often find shards of kina shells, some electric blue, turquoise, and lime green, all with their different arrangements of dot patterns. Some still have spikes attached and some are still almost in tack. I think they are the most delicate and beautiful shell.
